This Week’s Message To Students
04/07/2020
from Dr. Patrick Tompkins
Dear Your Eastern Shore Students,
YES!
YES! you are closer to finishing the semester than ever. We believe in you.
EMERGENCY GRADING POLICY
Last week, we announced the ESCC Emergency Grading Policy for Spring 2020 classes. For details on the policy and recordings of last week’s Student Town Halls, please visit our Emergency Grading Policy. Please contact your instructors for assistance with the grading policy in your class.
WE CAN HELP
We have assigned a student success coach to work with each student. They are reaching out to you by email and phone. They can provide academic support and connect you to resources for things like healthcare, unemployment resources, etc.
For assistance, please contact Debbie Daniels: ddaniels@es.vccs.edu.
We have asked every one of our instructors to provide maximum support and flexibility to assist you in completing your classes. Be sure to let them know what you need!
MAKE SURE YOUR INFORMATION IS CURRENT
Please be sure your phone number and alternate email addresses are current in the Student Information System so we can contact you to offer resources. Here’s how:
MyESCC>SIS>Self Service> Campus Personal Information. Then choose Phone Numbers or choose Email Addresses (you will have to click to expand the menu to access email addresses).
SUMMER AND FALL REGISTRATION
Wow, you’ve almost finished the spring semester, and now it’s time to take your next steps—register for summer and fall. YES! we will continue classes in the summer and fall.
Did you know that students who register early are much more likely to graduate than students who put it off? What are you waiting for? You don’t even have to pay now!
The schedule is available online, and our coaches and advisors will contact every student by phone and email to offer assistance with enrolling in classes. You can contact our lead advisor, Sheryl Williamson: swilliamson@es.vccs.edu.
ZOOM Safety
You may have seen news reports of hackers disturbing Zoom classes at other colleges. We have not had a report of that at ESCC. To protect you and your classes, we have asked each instructor to take steps to enhance the security of Zoom classes. Also, there is work at the state level to provide additional guidance and security for Zoom sessions. We’ll keep you updated.
WE BELIEVE IN YOU!
Think about this: you’re a college student! Not everybody can say that. You almost certainly have friends and family members who did not go to college. You did. That proves you are a success story.
Here’s your next success—completing your courses this semester. You can do it, and we can help. Let us know how.
STAY SAFE
YES!—Your Eastern Shore Community College wishes wellness to each of you and to our entire Shore Community. We are Eastern Shore Strong, we are Your Eastern Shore!
Take care of yourselves and each other,
p…
