
Dr. Daryl Minus became the president of your Eastern Shore Community College on July 1st, 2025. He looks forward to utilizing this space as a portal for students and the community to have access to the president, and to provide interaction and engagement with ESCC leadership.
Dr. Minus is an accomplished, innovative, and collaborative leader who has 28 years of higher education experience, including 12 years in executive leadership roles at three community colleges. Dr. Minus is a highly-experienced, caring, relationship-builder with proven ability to develop and sustain quality strategic partnerships and generate measurable results that impact student success. He is a vibrant student advocate, and a staunch believer in the transformational power of community colleges as pathways to enhanced economic mobility.
Dr. Minus served as the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success at Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC), one of 23 institutions in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). In his executive role, Dr. Minus led the college’s transformative work to reverse systemic enrollment decline through the redesign and re-engineering of organizational structures and systems. His dedicated focus on prioritizing the “student experience” at SVCC resulted in the implementation of data-informed, strategic enrollment management strategies that contributed to seven consecutive semesters of credit FTE increases (Summer 2022 to Summer 2024) and eight consecutive semesters of increased credit headcount (Summer 2022 to Fall 2024).
Prior to his tenure at SVCC, Dr. Minus served as the Education Assistance Branch Manager/Education Services Officer for Marine Corps Community Services (Camp Lejeune, NC). He served as an executive leader in the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) for 8 years as Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Services (Cape Fear Community College), Executive Vice President for Learning and Student Success/Chief Academic Officer (Craven Community College; promoted), and Vice President for Student Services (Craven Community College). Over the course of his expansive career as a community college executive, Dr. Minus has demonstrated excellence in providing outcomes-driven leadership to instituting relevant academic programs; implementing workforce initiatives and innovations; championing teaching and learning excellence; developing scalable access, retention, and academic support programs; ensuring accreditation compliance (SACSCOC); facilitating successful partnerships with industry, community, and K-12 stakeholders; and generating over $10 million in external funding to support student success infrastructure needs.
Dr. Minus is a servant-leader who is committed to being a catalyst for access, success, workforce readiness, and equity for community college students. He holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Phoenix in Educational Leadership and earned a Master’s degree in Business Education/Higher Education from New York University. Dr. Minus completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing at Hampton University (Hampton, VA).
