Welcome to the Learning Resource Center (LRC)
The Eastern Shore Community College LRC advances the mission of Eastern Shore Community College by supporting the teaching, learning, and research needs of ESCC students and faculty. We offer a dynamic, state-of-the-art teaching library that enhances student learning wherever programs or courses are located and however they are delivered. As an essential service for the college, the LRC provides excellence and innovation in resources and 21st century technologies to empower our college community to be lifelong learners and effective users of information.
Our highly qualified and dedicated staff is itself a resource to support you. If you need help getting started with research, we can assist you in locating relevant and appropriate print and online resources. We can also assist you with using technology to complete your coursework or other personal projects and teach you valuable digital and information literacy skills that will empower you to achieve your educational and professional goals. Meet the Staff
Judith Grier, MLS
Judith holds a Bachelor’s degree in Art History from the University of Texas-Austin and a Master’s degree in Library Science from Rutgers University. Prior to taking on responsibilities for the ESCC library (LRC), she was hired as the Coordinator of Research, Planning & Assessment, a role she still holds. Additionally, she has twenty years of operational experience in standardized assessment and several years of experience in working with rare books and archives. Her interests are far and wide, and she loves locating information for inquiring minds.
Ryan Webb, M.A.
Ryan Webb is an Eastern Shore native who holds both a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Old Dominion University. While completing his graduate degree, Ryan worked as a writing tutor at Old Dominion’s Virginia Beach Higher Education Center. His research interests focus on the history, language, and culture of Virginia’s Eastern Shore, and his research on place names of the ESVA has been featured on the Eastern Shore of Virginia tourism blog. Before joining the LRC at ESCC, Ryan worked as an Adult Education Instructor teaching English, math, and digital literacy to students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
