*In accordance with Section 23.1-307 (D) of the Code of Virginia, the State Board for Community Colleges provides notice that at its regular business meeting on May 21, 2026, it will consider tuition andmandatory educational and general (E&G)increases for Virginia’s Community Colleges, effective fall semester 2026. The May 21 meeting will occur at 9 a.m. at the Virginia Community College System, System Office, 300 Arboretum Place, Richmond, VA 23236.
For in-state and out-of-state students, the State Board will consider tuition rate and E& G increases of between $3.50 per credit hour and $8.00 per credit hour. The State Board will also consider mandatory non-E&G fee increases of no more than $0.50 per credit hour for select colleges.

Business and Military Contract Students – rate applies to out-of-state students whose VA employer or federal agency in VA has entered into a contractual relationship with ESCC.
NOTE: Students are not required to pay any additional fees for online or distance learning courses, including charges associated with verification of student identity.

Full-time or Part-time Academic Load
A normal academic load for full-time, degree or certificate students is 15 to 18 credits per semester. Based on this, Virginia residents should anticipate tuition and fees for full-time students to range from $2,470 to $2,963 per semester.
Family responsibilities, the need to work, or other obligations may make part-time enrollment preferable for some students.
Payment of Tuition and Fees
- Payment of tuition and fee charges for normal session classes is due by published payment dates.
- Payment of tuition and fees for special session classes is due by the first day of class.
- Students registering after the payment date must pay all charges at the time of registration.
