Community Scholarships


Along with scholarships through the ESCC Foundation and other local organizations, other community organizations offer scholarships that can be used to attend ESCC or for other educational opportunities.  Click on the links below for more information.

Betty Ross Academy for Lifetime Learning Scholarships  The Academy for Lifetime Learning (ALL) is offering $1,000 scholarships to help graduating students on the Eastern Shore of Virginia continue their educations at a community college or university. One scholarship requires that the student’s academic goal be in the discipline of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or Medicine (STEMM). A second scholarship is also open to graduates pursuing a two- or four-year RN Nursing Program either at the Eastern Shore Community College or at a 4-year college. In addition, a third scholarship this year will be awarded to a graduate who wishes to pursue a 4-year degree program in Theatre Arts. All these scholarships are to be used to defray college expenses. Online applications are available here.

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers Focused Driver Scholarship Program  This program awards three scholarships of $2,000 to 2022 graduating high school seniors (incoming freshman) from Hampton Roads and the Eastern Shore area. The program was created to  help raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving, one of the most significant causes of accidents involving teens.      Here are some details about the program:
– Require essays containing 500 to 750 words.
– Subject: The dangers of distracted driving and how you think the problem should be tackled.
– The deadline is July 15, 2022.

Community Giveback Scholarship 2024-2025   If you are heading to college or a trade certification program this fall and have earned service hours by volunteering in our community, you are eligible to apply for a Community Giveback Scholarship. One $500 and four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to five students who have volunteered to help better our Eastern Shore community. Application is due May 15, 2024.

Critical Language Scholarship   An intensive overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students

Delmarva Partnership Scholarship  Provides a $5,000 scholarship to Salisbury University for Eastern Shore and Deleware students.

Delta Kappa Gamma Society Scholarship  Four grants-in-aid, ranging from $500 to $4,000 paid directly to a female rising high-school senior, current college undergraduate, or postgraduate at an accredited college/university who plans to pursue a career in the field of education.

DigitalPR Scholarship  The DigitalPR Scholarship will award one high school senior, current college, or graduate student with a $1,000 scholarship. DigitalPR founded this annual scholarship with the understanding that many students do not have the financial means to further their education. Many of our team members have been lifelong supporters for higher education and have helped many young people achieve their academic and professional goals through our internship program.

ESTACI Scholarship Information and Application Open to graduating seniors attending high schools in Accomack and Northampton Counties.  Scholarship awards may be used for any post-secondary education program including college, university, trade school, or other educational endeavor. Hampton Roads Community Foundation Scholarships    The Hampton Roads Community Foundation is accepting scholarship applications for 2023-2024.  Students may visit our website at http://www.hamptonroadscf.org/scholarships/  to view the list of undergraduate scholarships and follow the steps for applying through our online application. Applications are due on March 1, 2023.

Horatio Alger National Career & Technical Scholarship.  Applicants must be under the age of 30 with a high school diploma (or GED) and enrolled in a certificate program that will lead to employment in two years or less. Students must have financial need and be Pell eligible.  Deadline is July 15, 2021 or until all scholarships are awarded.  Student must maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher to remain eligible.

Jeannette Rankin Women’s Scholarship

The Jeannette Rankin Women’s Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to low-income women, ages 35 and older, who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents pursuing an undergraduate education or a trade skills certification at an accredited college or university in the United States. Scholarships are renewable for up to 5 years and distributed directly to the recipient.  The application is due in February.

Kiwanis Club of Accomack President’s Scholarship
The scholarship award will be given to one graduating high school student and to one returning college student pursuing an undergraduate degree or certification. Each award is for a $500 scholarship.

Lawyers of Distinction Scholarship The Lawyers of Distinction Scholarship was created to help college students have a chance to reach their dreams without having to worry about the financial burden of whether or not they will be able to afford school.  Applicants must complete an essay and meet eligibility criteria.

Mary Blackwell Barnes Memorial Scholarship  The scholarship is named in honor of Mary Blackwell Barnes, a dedicated servant of public finance.  Mary passed away in 2009 at the too-young age of 44, but her memory lives on through the contributions she made to public finance in Virginia.  The minimum qualifications to apply are restricted to female students who are returning to a Virginia or District of Columbia college or university in the fall.  Applicants may be undergraduate or graduate level students.  Applications must be received by May 31, 2022 to be considered, which includes receipt of the applicant’s official or unofficial college transcript.

Max Gorin Scholarship  Founded in 2021, the Max Gorin Scholarship was designed to award one lucky applicant $1,000 for their educational expenses. The Max Gorin Scholarship aims to combat the rising cost of education often presented to students who may not have the financial means to reach their educational goals.

NASA National Community College Aerospace Scholars Select group of students invited to visit NASA to participate in an on-site team project.

NPCA Scholarship – The National Precast Concrete Association Foundation (NPCAF) Scholarship program provides undergraduate and graduate scholarships to students pursuing degrees in fields related to construction.

Onancock Area Lion’s Club Scholarship– Provides a $1000 scholarship for graduates of 2021 graduates of Nandua or Arcadia High School enrolling in the Practical Nursing Program at ESCC. Scholarship applications will only be accepted from March 1 to April 12, 2021.

Project Pathfinders –  In partnership with the Virginia Community College System, VECF will administer a scholarship program – Project Pathfinders – designed to increase the skills of early childhood professionals in preschool and child care settings by accessing community college coursework and credentials

Pungoteague Ruritan Club Scholarship 2024 Provides a $2,000 scholarship to students planning to attend or currently attending ESCC.  Pungoteague Ruritan Club Scholarship Application 

STEM Takes Flight   The Consortium’s new program, STEM Takes Flight at Virginia’s Community Colleges, provides $5,000 mentored scholarships, paid industry internships, NASA research experiences, and new courses to foster STEM career awareness and workplace skills.

Virginia Space Grant Consortium Scholarship Program for Community College Students – The VSGC desires to increase the number of talented community college students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).  The VSGC is especially seeking applications from underrepresented minorities, females, and persons with disabilities. The  Community College STEM Scholarship Program provides $2,000 scholarships to students enrolled at any campus at a Virginia Community College and pursuing a degree in STEM.

Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development  The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) is offering a secondary or higher education scholarship to all juniors and graduating high school seniors, and current first, second or third year students of a two or four year institution. Building Code Safety Month Essay Contest Rules

Virginia Department of Social Services Child Care Provider Scholarship – The purpose of this tuition assistance program is to offer child care providers foundational knowledge and skills in the care and development of children.

Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Visual Arts Fellowship Supports professional artists as well as art students who demonstrate exceptional creative ability in their chosen discipline.

Walmart Associate Scholarships Scholarships for Walmart employees.

Women’s Club of Accomack County  The Woman’s Club of Accomack County is awarding two $2,500 scholarships to a female graduating high school senior or a returning adult learner at the college level, residing in Northampton or Accomack Counties, Virginia, entering the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medical sciences (RN Nursing programs) or education at an accredited two- or four-year school in the state of Virginia or the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. This scholarship will be sent directly to the school you are attending noted to be applied towards tuition. 

Virginia Foundation for Community College Education Scholarships  Varying amounts and criteria for Virginia community college students

Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute Scholarship Program  is for students pursuing an educational curriculum in law enforcement or criminal justice.  Access application information checklist.

Young Professionals Scholarship Applicants must be a senior graduating from an Eastern Shore of Virginia high school or home school in Spring 2021 with plans to further their education at a college/university/trade school beginning in the Fall of 2021.
