Weekly Student Message 4/21/20

Dear Your Eastern Shore Students,
EXTRA FUNDING COMING FOR STUDENTS
The federal CARES act provides funding for colleges and universities. Some of that money will be given to students. We do not yet have details on when, how, and to whom those funds will go, but please be sure your information is current in our student information system. Here’s how:
MyESCC > SIS > Self Service > Campus Personal Information. Then choose Phone Numbers or choose Email Addresses (you will have to click to expand the menu to access email addresses).
WHY REGISTER NOW?
Reserve your space in summer and fall classes by registering now. You do not have to pay until later, and you can always cancel your registration. Check out our schedules: https://es.vccs.edu/academics/schedules/
For assistance, you can contact your faculty advisor or our lead advisor, Sheryl Williamson: swilliamson@es.vccs.edu.
You will see on-campus classes on our schedules. In the event that we have to limit classroom access, we will do so with even more support for students and faculty.
GUARANTEED COURSE TRANSFER—PASSPORT COURSE PROGRAM
Did you know that Virginia has mandated that 15-16 credits of general education courses be accepted by public colleges and universities in Virginia? Take a look at the Passport Course List. ESCC offers Passport courses this summer and fall.
Our degrees also have transfer guarantees. For more information, visit the website of Virginia’s Community Colleges:https://www.vccs.edu/students/transfers/.
HOW “P” GRADES WILL TRANSFER
The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV), has published an FAQ on how “P” grades will transfer to public colleges and universities in Virginia, along with contact information for the transfer offices of those schools. As more universities respond to SCHEV’s survey, they will update the document and we will share that information.
STAY SAFE, STAY HOME
ESCC’s YES! brand is all about Your Eastern Shore. We all have seen a large spike in COVID-19 cases this week. We hope you will follow the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Governor Northam to protect yourselves and the rest of Your Eastern Shore. Let’s look forward to more social times in the near future.
Caring about you,
p…
