Health Safety Policy Updated in Response to Recent Surge

As part of the college’s YES! culture, which stands for Your Eastern Shore, we are committed to the safety of our students, staff, and community. The state of the COVID 19 pandemic continues to change, so we are updating the college’s health safety policies.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) now recommends that under certain circumstances, vaccinated people should resume masking indoors. One of the recommended circumstances is in areas where the level of transmission is high. That is currently the case in Accomack County. Additionally, the research to date indicates that the Delta variant of the virus may be especially contagious, even from vaccinated people. For the health and safety of our faculty, staff, students, and greater community, ESCC will require all individuals to wear a mask while in our ESCC facilities.

One of the principles we used in developing the ESCC COVID 19 Return to Campus Plan was safety. The safety of students and employees can most effectively be addressed by following regulations and best practices. Given the rise in cases and the strong emergence of new COVID 19 variants, it is a best practice to require everyone to wear masks while in our buildings.

If you have not been vaccinated and are eligible for a vaccine, we encourage you to do so, for your safety and for the safety of others.

Thank you for joining together to promote safe conditions at Your Eastern Shore Community College. AT ESCC safety is a YES!
