RSVPs Requested by October 11

ESCC’s 50^th Anniversary Homecoming and Ribbon Cutting will be held Friday, October 22 from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on the college campus in Melfa.  Due to COVID-19, many may not have visited campus since the completion of the new $22 million academic building and its opening in January of 2020.  This will be an opportunity to celebrate the college’s history and to officially welcome the community to its new facility, with VCCS Chancellor Glenn DuBois and other dignitaries on hand to mark the event. All are welcome to join the celebration, and bagged lunches from Mallards will be provided for those who RSVP. Please RSVP by email to rsvp@es.vccs.edu or call 757-789-1749.   

In addition to the official ribbon cutting, the program will include a brief history of ESCC by George McMath and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with partners from NASA Wallops Flight Facility.  Other activities include a corn-hole tournament, prizes and giveaways, free photo booth, retro music from the past 50 years, student-guided tours through the new facility, and more. Bricks from the original ESCC Academic Building will be on sale to commemorate the history of the college and to support the efforts of the ESCC Foundation.  The event will be held indoors and outdoors and under a large tent, with masks required in the buildings. 

ESCC hopes that these many shared connections will bring alumni, former staff, faculty, and administrators back together to celebrate 50 years on October 22. The day will also be a celebration of looking forward to the next 50 years of delivering educational, career, and community development opportunities to all those on the Shore who can benefit from the college’s programs and services.
