Governor to Speak at “State of the Shore” Event
04/04/2014
MELFA, VIRGINIA – Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe will be the keynote speaker at the first annual “State of the Shore” breakfast on Tuesday morning April 15 in the Workforce Development Center at Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa. McAuliffe has been asked to share his views, aspirations and concerns about the Commonwealth, rural Virginia and our own Eastern Shore.
The “State of the Shore” breakfast is a joint effort of the Northampton County, Eastern Shore of Virginia and Chincoteague Chambers of Commerce in partnership with the Community College. The three Chambers are collaborating this year to hold a regional event rather than the legislative reporting events each Chamber has held separately in years past.
The Workforce Development Center doors will open at 7:45a.m. At 8:00a.m., light breakfast refreshments will be served in the Atrium with the Governor available to meet with attendees. The formal program will begin at 9:00a.m. in the Great Hall. Other speakers include Senator Lynwood Lewis, Delegate Robert Bloxom, Accomack County Board of Supervisors Chair, John Charles “Jack” Gray and Northampton County Board of Supervisors Chair, Larry LeMond. Mayors of all towns in both counties have been asked to provide brief written reports that will be distributed to the attendees.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to hear about the new laws and policy changes from the recently completed 2014 General Assembly. There is a $20 registration fee to be made payable to the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation. Cash, checks, MasterCard, VISA, American Express and Discover are accepted. Advance registration is required. Call Laura Fosque at (757) 789-7979 or Lfosque@es.vccs.edu for more information or to register.
