Job seekers will benefit a variety of free services at an upcoming event at Eastern Shore Community College’s Workforce Development Services Center. The “Career Checkup” will be held for two days, on Friday October 20, from 1:00pm-6:00pm, and on Saturday October 21st, from 9:00am-2:00pm.
With recent closings and layoffs in the local business community, “Career Checkup”, is designed to bring together a number of resources to help displaced workers and job seekers gain employment or improve their existing job. Presented by Workforce Development Services at ESCC, with the cooperation of community partners, The Virginia Employment Agency, The Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, and Eastern Shore Area Agency on Aging, the services will be offered over a two-day period to be more accessible to workers.
All are welcome to participate, as professionals will lend guidance on resume writing, interviewing and soft skills, and assessment of existing skillsets. The goal will be to aid attendees in approaching their next job opportunity with everything they need to assure success and advance their career goals. The event is totally free and no appointments are needed. Veterans are also encouraged to attend.
For more information on the “Career Checkup”, feel free to contact Dean of Workforce Development Services at ESCC, Thomas Johnson, at 757-789-1752.
