CompTIA IT Fundamentals Begins on March 15th

“The IT Industry is one of the few places where a certified professional can get a high-paying job without a t 4-year college degree,” states Doug Fleming who instructs CompTIA Information Technology Fundamentals students at YOUR Eastern Shore Community College.

Fleming will be leading ESCC’s next CompTIA c class beginning March 15th. He adds that “students will get a broad view of the IT industry and an understanding of the fundamental fields of emphasis where an IT Professional can focus their talents and abilities to build a successful career. Students will also learn how to manage computer-based testing, so they can pass a proctored exam to earn an industry certification.”

CompTIA IT Fundamentals class provides that solid technology foundation for anyone entering the workplace – regardless of the industry.

CompTIA IT Fundamentals is a the basic course for other CompTIA classes offered by ESCC, including A+, Network+, and Security+. Scott Hall, Workforce & Business Solutions Officer, added that ESCC offers tuition support for eligible students. “With the FastForward program,” Scott said, “two-thirds of the tuition is automatically paid for by the Commonwealth of Virginia.”

Additional sources of financial aid are also available to eliminate any out -of-pocket costs for the student. Hall adds that “CompTIA IT Fundamentals is an approved course of study for the Virginia Ready Scholarship. Upon earning their credential, students will receive a $1,000 scholarship to help as they continue their career journey.”

VP of Academics Patrick Tompkins noted “you don’t have to have any experience. If you’re interested in IT, we can help.”
