Recent Graduates in New Teaching Roles on the Shore
Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education, Stephanie Zodun sees many students take their goals of teaching to fruition, “ESCC has numerous graduates currently working in classrooms across the Eastern Shore.”
Mariya Walker and Bella Bundick both graduated from the program and are now teaching Pre-K at Broadwater Academy in Exmore. Walker emphasizes that interested students “choose a career you will love and your dream job will follow.”
The program offers opportunities for in-person experiences at local schools and childcare centers. Bella Bundick noted “these experiences set me on track to make connections within the community and begin a successful career.”
The college has two Associate degree programs to get you started toward earning a teaching degree and licensure. Zodun continued, “Our Early Childhood Education AAS is now a direct pathway into Bachelor degree programs at numerous Virginia Universities such as ODU, JMU, GMU, VCU, Radford and now Longwood University. Our AAS degree can be completed in as few as two years, leaving you with only two years at a university before earning a Bachelor’s degree and becoming a licensed teacher in the state of Virginia.”
You can also earn your AAS degree and get a job working in childcare immediately. Zodun notes that “ESCC also has two smaller programs in Early Childhood Education that are built into the AAS degree which allows you to earn certificates as you work towards your degree. G3 program eligibility can make this a free program for students.”
