Jim Fliakas has worked in the education field for 35 years. He taught middle and high school English and coached high school baseball in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland, a large and diverse district in a suburb of Washington, DC. He later served as the supervisor for secondary English curriculum and instruction in MCPS.
After retiring from MCPS, Jim worked for two years at Discovery Education, an educational technology company, conducting qualitative research in various states to provide insights about the types of educational resources students and teachers need.
Jim received his bachelor’s degree in English from Boston College and earned his master’s degree in School Administration and Teacher Leadership from Johns Hopkins University. He currently lives in Cape Charles and recently became a board member of the Northampton County Education Foundation.
