In Fall 2019, ESCC launched a Healthy Snack Initiative to make pre-packaged snacks and fresh fruits available to our student body on a daily basis. Tables with snacks are available in the main building and the Workforce Development building. The Healthy Snack Initiative is funded by the Eastern Shore Community College Foundation and private donations.
To address the broader issue of food insecurity among our students, the college hosts a food pantry, stocked with refrigerated, fresh and non-perishable food items provided by the local Foodbank and private donations.

Being a small college, it’s a challenge to provide consistent food service to our students. To explore the viability for campus meal service that benefits local small businesses, ESCC hosted a food truck on campus each Wednesday in November and December 2023. Cookie Momster, owned and operated by ESCC alum Carletha Rogers, was the pilot truck. With favorable data, more food trucks will be invited to the campus.
