Erik Pierce’s career spanned 42 years as a Department of Defense contractor supporting Navy Combat Systems development, integration, and testing, and fleet installation and training. The first half of his career was in an engineering capacity supporting the Navy’s Aegis Cruiser and Destroyer Program. The second half of his career was spent dual hatted as the Operations Director for small engineering contractor firms and leading a contractor team providing engineering and programmatic support to the government Program Directors.
In an engineering capacity, Mr. Pierce was responsible for combat system requirements development, testing and analysis of those requirements, installation of the newly certified computer programs onboard ship, and training of the fleet’s force. He assisted and led operational testing at-sea and developed multiple programs for making analysis of the tested data more effective and efficient.
As the Operations Director, he was responsible for the management of the office and its employees. He was involved in many proposal efforts to grow the office workforce and core competencies of the staff. He managed two different contracting firms over a 20-year period.
In addition to his Operations Director role, Mr. Pierce also created, grew, and led a multi-contractor team providing engineering and programmatic support to the government leadership and their technical staff. He helped to manage a $150M annual budget and assisted in the definition and documentation of all the technical and fiscal requirements each fiscal year.
Mr. Pierce has two undergraduate degrees in business and computer science and an MBA.
He recently retired to the Eastern Shore and volunteers at the local bakery and recently acquired his United States Golf Association (USGA) Rules Official certification, volunteering as a Rules official at USGA and Virginia State golf events.
