
Dr. Daryl Minus became the president of your Eastern Shore Community College on July 1st, 2025. Dr. Minus is an accomplished, innovative, and collaborative leader who has 28 years of higher education experience, including 12 years in executive leadership roles at three community colleges. Dr. Minus is a highly experienced, caring, relationship-builder with proven ability to develop and sustain strategic partnerships and generate measurable results that impact student success. He is a vibrant student advocate, and a staunch believer in the transformational power of community colleges as pathways to enhanced economic mobility.
Prior to this appointment, Dr. Minus served as the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success at Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC), one of 23 institutions in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). Before his tenure at SVCC, Dr. Minus served as the Education Assistance Branch Manager/Education Services Officer for Marine Corps Community Services (Camp Lejeune, NC). He has also served as an executive leader in the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS) as Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Services (Cape Fear Community College), Executive Vice President for Learning and Student Success/Chief Academic Officer (Craven Community College; promoted), and Vice President for Student Services (Craven Community College).
Over the course of his expansive career as a community college executive, Dr. Minus has demonstrated excellence in providing outcomes-driven leadership to instituting relevant academic programs; implementing workforce initiatives and innovations; championing teaching and learning excellence; developing scalable access, retention, and academic support programs; ensuring accreditation compliance; facilitating successful partnerships with industry, community, and K-12 stakeholders; and generating over $10 million in external funding to support student success infrastructure needs.
Dr. Minus is a servant-leader who is committed to being a catalyst for access, success, and workforce readiness for community college students. He holds a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Phoenix in Educational Leadership and earned a Master’s degree in Business Education/Higher Education from New York University. Dr. Minus completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing at Hampton University (Hampton, VA).
