Nursing Admission Test Review Class Offered in 2021

Eastern Shore Community College will again offer a Nursing Admission Test (HESI) Review Class starting on January 9th. The classes will be held each Saturday for five weeks at Workforce Development Services (socially distanced in the Great Hall) on campus in Melfa.  There are also plans to make the classes available via Zoom for those who would prefer to attend virtually.

There is a $35 charge to take the class and students can register through Workforce Development Services here: HESI Prep Class (3122).

The Nursing Admission Test is required for entrance into nursing programs. All applicants including LPN to RN Bridge and advanced placement students, as well as traditional students, are required to take the admission test, which is a 4 hour test covering five subject areas: Math, Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, English, and Chemistry.

The review class will run from 9:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. and will begin January 9 and end on February 6, 2021. ESCC faculty who specialize in each area will conduct their class using review materials. It is assumed each review class participant has taken a course in the particular area being covered. This is a review and test preparation class and not meant to be a presentation of new material.

Weekly Class Topics:

The HESI Admission test for the RN program will be given virtually and students will be given information on how to sign up for the test in January. If students have trouble with internet access or resources, appointments for testing can be made by contacting Dr. Terri Long and she will arrange a laptop with the required camera and microphone and a secure spot for testing.

The HESI RN test can be used for admission to the LPN program. The HESI PN test is given at a later date.

RN applications are due February 15, 2021 so students must arrange to take the test by Feb 14 and include the results in their applications.

There will be an information session along with a practice test offered on the second Saturday (1/16). Advising will be offered by appointment or through Zoom.

Email or call 757-620-9921 with any questions.  Students who plan to apply for either the RN or LPN programs in 2021, and have completed any prerequisites, are urged to contact Dr. Long and take advantage of these review classes.
