Eastern Shore Community College would like to welcome our new Interim President, Dr. Billy Greer, who began at his post on Monday, January 22, following the departure of Dr. Linda-Thomas Glover.
Dr. Greer earned a Bachelor degree at Valdosta State College, a Master of Divinity at Drew University, a Doctor of Theology degree at Emory University, and a Ph. D. at Georgia State University.  Before becoming the third president of Virginia Wesleyan College in 1992, Dr. Greer served as president of both Brevard College and Andrew College and as a United Methodist Minister in his home state of Georgia.

He was a visiting scholar at the Princeton Theological Seminary and served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Schools and Colleges and on the Commission on Campus Concerns of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.

His 23-year tenure a Wesleyan included major facility additions and improvements such as the Jane P. Batten Student Center, significant enrollment increases and the growth of the College’s endowment, a new four-credit curriculum focused on experiential learning, the establishment of the Birdsong Community Service Program, and athletic accomplishments such as the 2006 men’s basketball NCAA championship win.

His first week on campus has seen immediate engagement with students, faculty, and staff alike, and ESCC certainly feels fortunate to have access to him during the timeframe of our current accreditation process, construction of new facilities, and ultimately, the search and appointment of our permanent new President at ESCC.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Billy Greer to Eastern Shore Community College, where tomorrow begins.
