Dear Parent of the High School Class of 2021:

You should be so proud to be a parent of a graduating senior; congratulations to you and your child!

Given the challenges we are facing with COVID 19, planning the next step in your child’s educational journey may seem daunting.  Should your graduate go away to a four-year college or stick closer to home?  As a parent, I understand the concerns you have in the uncertainty of the new environments.  The wonderful news is that opportunities close to home may be just the beginning you and your student are looking for in higher education.

Your Eastern Shore Community College is launching two new initiatives that could enable your child to attend Eastern Shore Community College for free.  The two programs are called Take Two and G3, Get a skill, Get a job, and Give back.

Take Two is a program for graduating high school sceniors.  Through Take Two, ESCC is offering scholarships for up to 35 graduating high school seniors to take one or two classes this summer for free!

The G3 program, to be launched on July 1, provides financial assistance to Virginians who seek training in the high need fields of healthcare, information technology, manufacturing and skilled trades, and early childhood education. Not only does G3 eliminate tuition, it offers career pathways that lead directly to high wage jobs.

With these scholarships Your Eastern Shore Community College is affordable, and we provide support and guidance with the friendly, familiar faces of people from your community. Our culture of YES! (Your Eastern Shore), is more than a phrase.  It is a promise of hospitality that sets our school apart, and positions your student to achieve their goals and dreams that lie ahead.

To begin the process for applying for both Take Two and G3, please visit our website, email onedoor@es.vccs.edu, or call (757)789-1720.

Don’t wait! Both programs are first come, first served, and classes begin June 7, 2021.  Apply for Take Two and G3 today. (Did I mention that your student may be able to attend for free?!)  We invite your student to become a YES! at YOUR Eastern Shore Community College in Melfa.

Sincerely,

James Shaeffer PhD, President
