Advising and Counseling Services

How will you know what classes to take? Whenever you sign up for your major - for a degree or certificate - you will be assigned a faculty advisor who is an expert in your field. When you choose your classes for the next semester, you will see your advisor and you will discuss a variety of topics:

  • The courses required for graduation
  • Your plans for transfer or employment
  • Your class schedule
  • Any issues that may interfere with your college success such as your work and home responsibilities, your study skills, transportation problems, etc.

You and your advisor will choose the best schedule for you. In order to register, you must have the signature of an academic advisor.

You may see your advisor at any time during the semester to discuss your academic progress. Always check with your advisor if you are considering dropping a course during the semester.  Dropping a course may affect your academic program, your date of graduation or your financial aid.

If you do not know the name of your advisor, check with Faye Wilson in the Admissions.

If you are not a curricular student, see a counselor for help with your schedule before you register. Counselors are available both during the daytime and nighttime hours.

Under the Programs and Courses section, you will find a faculty name, phone number and e-mail address for each academic major.  We encourage you to e-mail, call or visit a professor to find answers to your academic questions.

Counseling Services

Three full-time counselors are available to assist students with problems of an educational, vocational, or personal nature. The professional staff, which functions in addition to the system of faculty advisors, focuses on the special needs of the community college students. The counselors are available both during the daytime and nighttime hours.

The counselors are:
