Interactive Video Courses Distance Education The Compressed Video Network (CVN) is a collaborative effort of colleges in the Virginia Community College System to provide quality educational programs and courses via compressed video to students in the Commonwealth.
Interactive video is a relatively new technology allowing two-way video and audio instructions between the instructor and students at two or more sites.
Eastern Shore Community Collge (ESCC) sends and receives courses to and from other Virginia Community College System colleges. All CVN courses offer educational opportunities comparable to on-campus courses.
Added benefits of taking CVN courses are that they may: - offer programs or courses that are not available at receiving institutions;
- offer more sections of courses that are available at receiving institutions; and
- allow students to interact with students and, in some cases, instructors from other colleges in the VCCS.
No special technology skills are required to take an interactive video course; students are introduced to the course format by their instructor during the first class session. The registration process for these courses is the same as if you were registering for a traditional course at ESCC.
