MELFA, VIRGINIA – Only a few spots remain available for employers who wish to promote job openings at the March 11 Accomack-Northampton Regional Job Fair sponsored by the Chincoteague, Eastern Shore of Virginia and Northampton County Chambers of Commerce and hosted by Eastern Shore Community College. The Job Fair will be held from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm on Tuesday March 11 in the Great Hall of ESCC’s Workforce Development Center. Up to 500 job seekers are expected to come to the event.
“We only have space for about 40 employers, and the response has been fantastic. At least 30 employers have already informed us of their plans to attend and another dozen and a half have indicated a strong interest,” says Eddie Swain, ESCC’s Dean of Workforce Development Services. Swain continued, “The three Chambers of Commerce have done a great job in getting their members to participate, and we even have several employers from Maryland’s lower Shore who are planning to exhibit.”

Some of the committed employers include: Bayshore Concrete, Eastern Shore Rural Health, New Ravenna Mosaics, Sysco Eastern Maryland, Eastern Shore Rural Health, Perdue Farms, Eastern Correctional Institute, Aqua Restaurant, Bel-Art Products, King’s Creek Marina, Rommel’s Ace Hardware, Northampton County Public Schools, Heritage Hall, ECPI University, Intrepid USA Health Care, YMCA Camp Silver Beach, Chesapeake Medical Solutions, Virginia Tech’s Agricultural Research Extension, and the USDA.

Employers are encouraged to promote summer jobs for youth and young adults as the week of March 11 is the week most Virginia colleges and universities are on Spring Break. The Chambers and the College are marketing this event to families with children who are in college off-the-Shore so that they can secure a summer job while they are home for the break. Free job search skill workshops will be offered to enhance the talent pool.

Employers must register at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/march11jobfair in advance. Job seekers do not need to register for this event or for the free workshops. Contact Laura Fosque at (757) 789-7979 or Lfosque@es.vccs.edu for more information.
