MELFA, VIRGINIA – Only a few spots remain available for employers who wish to promote job openings at the 2nd Annual Accomack-Northampton Regional Job Fair sponsored by the Virginia Employment Commission (Eastern Shore One-Stop Center); the three (3) local Chambers of Commerce (Chincoteague, Eastern Shore of Virginia and Northampton County) and hosted by Eastern Shore Community College.  The Job Fair will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 11 in the Great Hall of ESCC’s Workforce Development Center.  Over 300 job seekers attended last year’s event.  With an additional sponsor and more employers, up to 400 job seekers are expected to attend in this, the second year of this regional effort.

“We only have space for about 40 employers, and the response has been fantastic.  At least 35 employers have already informed us of their plans to attend and another dozen or so have indicated a strong interest,” says Eddie Swain, ESCC’s Dean of Workforce Development Services.  Swain continued, “The VEC and the three Chambers of Commerce have done a great job in getting their clients and members to participate, and we even have several employers from Maryland’s lower Shore and Southside Hampton Roads who are planning to exhibit.”

Some of the committed employers include:  New Ravenna Mosaics, Sysco Eastern Maryland, Eastern Shore Rural Health, Perdue Farms, Eastern Correctional Institute, Northampton County Public Schools, Heritage Hall, YMCA Camp Silver Beach, Virginia Tech’s Agricultural Research Extension, Tyson Foods, Riverside Health System, The Oyster Farm at King’s Creek, the FBI (Norfolk Office), NAVSEA Surface Combat Systems Center (Wallops Island), Arcadia Nursing, The Jackspot Restaurant (Chincoteague), Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, Eastern Shore Community Services Board, Turner Construction, Kiptopeke State Park, Therapeutic Interventions, Chesapeake Bay Communications, Ocean City (MD) Transportation Department, National Counseling Group, Hampton Inn, Mason-Davis Realty, Peacock Motor Inn, Avon, Cherrystone Family Camping Resort, Cherrystone Aqua Farm, and Securitas.
