Category: General Announcements

On Saturday, February 9, Eastern Shore Community College, in conjunction with the Virginia Association of Financial Aid Administrators (VASFAA), will provide free professional financial aid assistance to Eastern Shore students who are planning to attend or return to any college or university next fall.

Throughout the day from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. one-on-one assistance will be available in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. This is the common financial aid application used by colleges, universities, and private career schools to determine eligibility for federal and state financial aid.

From 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. there will be a financial aid presentation, How to Find Money for College, which will explain the financial aid process including how to obtain federal and state financial assistance and how to find scholarships.

Bryan Smith, ESCC Dean of Student Services, commented, “We feel too many Eastern Shore students do not attend college because their families are intimidated by the financial aid process. Hopefully this day of free professional assistance will help families with this process. As an added bonus, we will be giving away a $100 textbook scholarship to be used at the winner’s college of choice.”

A Super Saturday event will also be held Feburary 9 in the Arcadia High School library from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Students and/or parents must bring the following items to facilitate the processing of the FAFSA:

  • Identification information (SSNs, driver’s license)
  • 2012 W-2 forms
  • 2012 tax return documents
