Full time position in support of the Virginia Community College Chancellor’s Workforce Credentials Grant Initiative intended to work with students before, during and after training and credentialing programs to align with Complete 2021 and beyond. This initiative leverages the unique strengths and success strategies of ESCC and promotes opportunities for cross-college information exchange. Begins 8/15/2017, or as soon as agreed upon.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide career coaching supports for WCG students to ensure completion of program and credential attainment.
  • Provide job placement and retention assistance to students who complete workforce training and credentialing.
  • Outreach and engagement with the Community.
  • Recordkeeping, data collection and entry in order to strengthen the success coach program and services.
  • Support the unit through other activities as needed.

Salary

$33,598 with comprehensive State benefits package. This position is Grant Funded and continuance is based on sufficient funding.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in counseling, human resources, social services, or a related field; a valid driver’s license; and their own transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in counseling and / or human services, or adult education. Work experience in counseling or academic coaching. Strong communications skills. Ability to develop individualized academic plans. Academic and career counseling skills. Knowledge of specific needs of underserved populations. Ability to work with at-risk students and those with disabilities and special needs. Possess career assessment and labor market information analysis skills. Working with employers for job referrals, work experience, or placement. Knowledge of financial literacy, financial aid, and scholarships. Effective problem solving skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office and social media. Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
