Part-time hourly staff position in the Academic department beginning 9/1/14, or as soon as agreed upon.  Up to 20 hours per week with some evening and Saturday hours required.  Minimum hourly rate is $11.77 with no benefits; however, other perks include ability to negotiate your schedule and working some from home if desired.  Position is subject to a background check.

Responsibilities

Primary emphasis is on assisting students enrolled in the Shared Services Distance Learning (SSDL) courses offered through Northern Virginia Community College and helping them be successful in the shared online classes. The SSDL Liaison will act as point of contact among the Northern Virginia Community College program administrator, the instructors of the SSDL courses, ESCC students enrolled in the courses, and ESCC personnel involved in the SSDL.

The duties include but are not limited to:

  • Scheduling and proctoring online exams using Blackboard Course Management system, including evenings and Saturdays
  • Facilitating withdrawal and drop
  • Tracking enrollment and student success using PeopleSoft, Oracle, and Blackboard
  • Facilitating textbook purchasing and procurement
  • Monitoring student success and preparing reports tracking student grades in SSDL courses
  • Maintaining contact with students via email and phone

Required Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience/education; excellent organization skills; strong written and oral communication skills; experience working with email; experience working with Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with content management systems and/or learning management systems; ability to track information and create and manage reports; experience with online courses or online training.
