Reporting to the IT Department’s Information and Technology Specialist I, the Computer Lab Assistant will provide support to the IT Department with the operation, monitoring, and control of all computer labs on campus. The position is responsible for maintaining the equipment, and related software, and provide assistance to faculty, staff and students. This position will also provide limited support to the IT equipment in the Learning Resource Center (LRC). This support includes but not limited to software and browser updates; installs of new versions of software, as well as the installation of patches on a regular basis. This part-time hourly staff position begins 7/25/17, or as soon as agreed upon, at an hourly rate of $12.01 with no benefits. Hours are flexible up to 29 hours per week.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist students with login and other computer issues.
- Assist instructors with lecture podium problems.
- Assist with new computer set ups and removals in the labs.
- Provide updates to equipment in the LRC on regular basis, including maintenance to IT equipment (laptops, iPads, etc.) loaned to students, staff, and faculty.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Proficient understanding of network configurations. Strong organizational skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office and internet navigation.
Associates Degree with hands-on working knowledge of multiple computer environments. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills for both technical and non-technical personnel and students.
