As a currently enrolled ESCC student, you automatically receive a local area network (LAN) account, an email account, a Blackboard account, and a PeopleSoft Student Information System (SIS) account.

The Virginia Community College System (VCCS) has developed a system that gives you access to all of your computer accounts with one user ID and password. This system is known as "ESCConnect." You may also look up your login information if you have forgotten or misplaced it. For your protection, the first time you login, you will be required to create a password.

Students, library patrons, and all other users of VCCS or ESCC hardware and applications are subject to the following guidelines:

Local Area Network (LAN) Accounts

ESCC LAN accounts are distinct from ESCConnect accounts:

• ESCC LAN accounts allow you to access machines and any course-related documents you may have stored on the local network.



• ESCConnect accounts allow you to access software systems, such as email.

LAN Accounts are active as long as you are currently enrolled in courses at Eastern Shore Community College. A LAN account is required in order to use the machines located in classrooms and labs.

Your LAN username is typically the first part of your ESCConnect email address (up to the @ sign). Your temporary password is usually the letters "Es," followed by your 6-digit birthday in the format mmddyy. There are a few exceptions.

We have several resources available to help you, including a Help Desk and our Student Network Handbook. You may click the link below to view or download a copy of the Handbook, or you can pick up a copy from the IT office or any of the computer labs.

Email Accounts

ESCConnect email accounts are active as long as the student is currently enrolled in courses through the college. Students are encouraged to use the official ESCConnect email address assigned to them in all correspondence with the faculty and staff at Eastern Shore Community College.

PeopleSoft SIS Accounts

PeopleSoft SIS Accounts are active as long as the student is currently enrolled in courses through the college. Students can use the PeopleSoft system to:

• manage class schedules
• review transcripts
• update personal contact information.

You may login to PeopleSoft by using ESCConnect.

Blackboard Accounts

Blackboard Accounts are active as long as the student is currently enrolled in courses through the college. Blackboard is an on-line course delivery system used in the web classes offered throughout the Virginia Community College System. Blackboard is also used in numerous traditional courses to enhance instruction.
